Pressing Instructions
To achieve professional results with your DTF transfers, follow these simple steps:
Pre-Press (Optional):
Removing moisture can improve adhesion. Pre-pressing is helpful but not mandatory — decide based on your preference.
Position Your Design:
Carefully align the transfer in the desired location. For flat heat presses, heat-resistant tape is typically unnecessary. However, when pressing transfers onto curved surfaces like hats or when using an iron, securing the transfer with heat-resistant tape is highly recommended.
Press:
Apply medium-high pressure at 280°F-310°F for 15 seconds. You won’t damage the transfer by using slightly more heat, pressure, or time (within reason). However, too much heat can harm the garment, so test first and use parchment paper or a Teflon sheet as a barrier between the iron and garment.
Cool and Peel:
Let the transfer cool completely (at least 15-30 seconds). Gently peel back from one corner. If parts of the design don’t adhere:
- Ensure it was cool when peeling. If not, press again with more pressure or time (+5-10 seconds).
- If the issue persists, increase the temperature by 15°F increments until the transfer adheres.
Final Press and Care Instructions:
Place parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the design and press for an additional 15 seconds. This step softens the design, enhances durability, and reduces shine. For a shiny finish, use a Teflon sheet during the final press. When washing, turn the shirt inside out, wash in cold water, and dry on low heat or hang dry.
Artwork Guidelines
All file formats are welcome. For the best print quality, vector files are preferred, while raster images should be set to at least 300 DPI to maintain sharpness. Designing in the Adobe RGB 1998 color profile will help achieve more accurate and vibrant colors.
For best results, avoid extremely small details, as elements under 0.02 inches or 0.5 mm may not transfer cleanly.
